Eye opener

I'm finally back from the Club Crew World Championships in Penang, Malaysia.

The experience was awesome! ( 2nd time in my life flying)

The races was quite interesting.

So many teams from all over the world.

There was America, Russia, Iran, Japan, Macau, Canada, New Zealand, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, Czech and many more.

I did not know the dragonboating community was so big and widely spread around the world.

We lost to the Russians in the junior open 200m and 500m event.

200m we lost by 0.05 sec.

500m we lost by 0.15 sec.

To think that they had 2 girls in their boat and we had none.

And they beat us in a sprint event which requires explosiveness and brute strength.

It was really an eye opening experience.

I've learnt that as Singaporean dragonboaters, we have alot to learn and improve.

Those guys don't even look half as buff as some of our local teams.

If given an opportunity in 2010, I would like to see NJ give the Club Crew World Championships another shot.

I also got a chance to hold the world's lightest paddle.

270g.

Imba light.

Price is also imba. (US$480+ I think)

Asked why was it so costly, the salesperson replied, "It's a nightmare to make one of those ."

That's all for now I suppose.
